6.    Market lamb, weighing between 105 and 150 pounds
7.    Market lamb, HMS* (callipyge gene), weighing between 105 and 150 pounds


**Overall Breed Champion Class will include Champions from ALL breeding classes (including rams).

 

*NOTE-HMS lambs will show in a class of their own.  Any exhibitor showing a lamb with the callipyge gene or showing signs of this gene should make arrangements for a buyer, as these sheep will be discounted if they are turned.

  Sheep Memorials and Awards
 

Bill Holtzinger Memorial

Bill was born June 13, 1912 at Kearney, NB.  He and his wife Millicent, moved to Yakima in 1935. He worked for his uncle for a while, then bought property at Wiley Heights, west of Wiley Oily, and later in the Toppenish area.  He farmed with his son, Bob.

At the very first fatstock sale. Bill was there buying animals, helping out 4-H and FFA members in the area.  Thereafter, Bill made it a point to raise money from other businesses in the Yakima Valley to support the kids selling stock at the fair. Bill was always in the bleachers to help the participants and make it a better fair for them.

In memory of Bill Holtzinger, a perpetual traveling trophy was donated by his family to be presented to the owner of the Grand Champion 4-H Market Lamb

Yakima Valley Sheep Producers

The Yakima Valley Sheep Producers will award a $25 gift certificate to the 4-H and FFA exhibitors with the Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb.

Robert's Family Donation

The Roberts family has donated a belt buckle to be given to the Reserve Grand Champion 4-H Market Lamb.

Stony Meadow Farms

A perpetual traveling trophy has been donated by Stony Meadow Farm for the top 4-H Breeding Sheep exhibited at the fair.   The judge will make the selection, provided there is sufficient quality present.
 

Best of Wool Breed Award

The Sheep to Shuttle Guild of Yakima, Moxee, Selah, and Zillah will award a trophy to the 4-H exhibitor and the FFA exhibitor that shows the Best Wool Breed Sheep . To be determined by the sheep judge.

 

Animal Pharmaceutical. Inc.

A traveling trophy will be awarded to the FFA Grand Champion Market Lamb and the Grand Champion FFA Breeding Ewe. These trophies will not become the property of any individual.  These trophies are given for the promotion of the production of excellent breeding stock and market lambs.
