Poultry and Rabbits

Poultry

Entries are accepted from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday or Thursday morning from 7:00 am until 8:00 am.

Entries will be limited to 1 entry in each lot per breed.

Poultry will stay on display from Wednesday night or Thursday morning until Saturday until 2:00 pm.  Entries may be taken home at night.

Classification will be judged promptly at 10:30 am Thursday morning.  Any changes will be announced.

Record books must be turned into the Blue Barn or Superintendent prior to showing.

All crossbreeds are considered ineligible for the Best Of Show trophy.

Hybrids developed for laying purposes may be entered in the Leghorn class if they show characteristics of the breed.
 

Class A:   Standard Chicken
Class B:    Bantam Chicken

Lot # (for class A or B):
1.    Cockeral (4-12 months)
2.    Pullet (4-12 months)
3.    Cock (over 12 months)
4.    Hen (over 12 months)
5.    Pair
6.    Single Fryer (max 4 pounds)
7.    Pen of 3 fryers (max 4 pounds each)
8.    Roaster (over 4 pounds)


Class C:    Turkeys
Class D:    Ducks
Class E:    Geese
Class F:    Gamebirds (pheasant, quail, etc)
Class G:   Other Fowl (peacock, pigeons)

Lot #:
1.    Young male (4-12 months)
2.    Young female (4-12 months)
3.    Old male (over 12 months)
4.    Old female (over 12 months)
5.    Pair


Poultry Poster Contest

·          Posters should be educational

o         Size:   22" by 28"

o         Judged on neatness, legibility, creativity, and information content

o         Specify 4-H or FFA division

o         Contestant must do OWN WORK!

o         Only one entry per exhibitor

  Posters must be entered by 10:00 am Thursday


  Rabbits

Entries are accepted from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday or Thursday morning from 7:00 am until 8:00 am.

Record book must be turned in by Thursday 9:00 am.

All rabbits will be judged according to ARBA rules

Rabbits must be on display from Wednesday night or Thursday morning until Saturday until 2:00 pm.  Entries may be taken home at night.

Rabbit's variety (color), breed, and tattoo number must be on the entry card

Classification will start promptly at 9:00 am Thursday morning.

Fitting and Showing will follow classification. Contestants are STRONGLY recommended to wear long sleeves.

Superintendent reserves the right to limit entries

Class F:  Other mid-and heavy weight breeds
Class G:  Mini Lop
Class H:  Netherland Dwarf
Class I:  Florida White
Class J:  Mini Rex
Class K:  Dutch
Class L:  Jersey Wooly
Class M:  Other small- and fancy breeds

1.   Senior Doe (Large breeds:  8 months and over; other breeds:  6 months and over)
2.   Senior Buck (Large breeds:  8 months and over; other breeds:  6 months and over)
3.   Intermediate Doe (Large breeds:  6 to 8 months)
4.   Intermediate Buck (Large breeds:  6 to 8 months)
5.   Junior Doe (3 to 6 months)
6.   Junior Buck (3 to 6 months)
7.   Pre-Junior Doe, Large breeds only (under 3 months)
8.   Pre-Junior Buck, Large breeds only (under 3 months)
9.   Crossbred class, any age, judged on meat quality only
10.  Meat Pen, consisting of 3 rabbits (same breed and variety), 69 days of age and under, not over 5 lbs. Uniformity important.

·          SHOWMANSHIP entries are required to wear long sleeve shirts, pants, and shoes.

Awards

Traveling trophy for 4-H Best Of Show and carrying cage, as well as carrying cage for Reserve BIS provided by Yakima Valley Rabbit Breeders Assocciation.
